Summary
Estes Energetics is seeking a general manager for its chemical manufacturing operation in Minden, Louisiana. The operation consists of two sites that manufacture black powder explosive and a range of inorganic chemicals. The black powder plant is a legacy facility with over 220 years of history, while the other plant is a clean sheet design currently being developed.
The general manager has P&L responsibility for all Minden operations and is part of the executive leadership team. Operations include safety, quality, manufacturing, lab operations, logistics, maintenance, sales, and marketing. 

Essential Functions
  • Model company values and provide leadership to all functions of the site.
  • Ensure safe, high quality, and profitable operation of the site.
  • Optimize site productivity by maximizing sales and improving operations.
  • Develop budget, manage operation to budget, and report on financial performance to executive leadership team.
  • Ensure long-term viability of the site by planning for maintenance, capital projects, and other improvements.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Develop a high-performing team at all levels of the organization.
  • Evolve the strategy for the site, including possible expansion into adjacent or new products.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with stakeholders.
Competencies, Experience, and Education
Required
  • Ability to operate with complete trust, discretion, and autonomy.
  • Demonstrated excellence in multiple relevant functions (operations, sales, finance, etc.)
  • Strong leadership and management skills and the ability to lead by direct authority and by influence.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and address operational inefficiencies and areas for improvement. Ability to perform this through multiple approaches.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to develop and execute a vision for the future of the site.
Preferred
  • Background in Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing or operations organization.
  • 5 years of experience working in a growing small business.                                                 
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with full responsibility for Minden operations. Employees are expected to work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Overtime may be required.
Salary
From $130,000-$170,000 depending on experience, plus variable compensation.

Location
This job is located at our manufacturing facility in Minden, LA. Travel will be required to visit customers, vendors, and other company locations.
